The third day of our mobility program in Villefranche-sur-Saône began with an inspiring illumination workshop. Illumination is a traditional artistic technique used to decorate manuscripts, especially in the Middle Ages. It involves intricate designs using gold leaf and vivid colors to highlight letters, borders, and miniature illustrations. This craft was used to beautify religious texts and important documents, and the workshop offered participants a chance to explore this ancient art form hands-on.

At lunchtime, we enjoyed a lively intercultural picnic, where each partner group brought homemade dishes from their own countries. It was a wonderful moment of sharing, discovery, and celebration of cultural diversity—through food, stories, and laughter.

In the afternoon, we visited the Maison Vermorel, a beautiful and historic house that once belonged to Victor and Georgette Vermorel. Victor Vermorel was a prominent inventor and entrepreneur, known for his work in agricultural technology, especially in the development of plant protection systems. His innovations had a lasting impact on the local wine-growing and farming industries. The house itself is a symbol of the region’s rich industrial and cultural heritage.

At Maison Vermorel, participants took part in two engaging activities. The first was a treasure hunt focused on the architecture and history of the house, encouraging observation, teamwork, and curiosity. The second was a delicious cookie-making workshop with Chef Hassan Haj, a renowned pastry chef known for combining traditional recipes with modern creativity. Under his guidance, participants learned how to make cookies while discovering the art and passion behind fine pastry.

It was a day filled with creativity, connection, and cultural exchange—one that brought learning to life through art, food, and history.
